I’ve always found that the number one issue with students and fractions is that they don’t understand fractions at all. They don’t understand that a fraction is a part of a number. They don’t understand that the denominator is the total parts to make a whole and they definitely don’t understand how to combine or manipulate them.
This fractions unit focuses on breaking down and scaffolding the steps needed to understand and manipulate fractions. The lessons include many games, activities, and hands-on learning opportunities.
